Here's what we're listening to at Black, White & Rouge.
Music To Watch Girls By. The perfect way to start the day. Classic 50s and 60s tracks: Dusty Springfield, Julie London, Doris Day, Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett ... It doesn't get much better than this.
Honeymoon in Vegas. Awesome movie soundtrack of Elvis classics performed by everyone from Bryan Ferry ('Are You Lonesome Tonight?') and Dwight Yoakam ('Suspicious Minds') to Willie Nelson ('Blue Hawaii') and Bono ('Can't Help Falling in Love').
Walk the Line. The movie soundtrack. Nothing too challenging here, but some fun versions of Johnny Cash songs performed by Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.
Rockferry. This album is just really pretty. Duffy has a great voice and the songs are a little bit 60s but still up-to-date. Nice.
Hot Rocks 1964-1971. The best Stones tracks ever. First disc only please. Starts with 'Time is on My Side', goes through to 'Let's Spend the Night Together', via 'Mother's Little Helper', 'Paint It Black', 'Under My Thumb' and 'Ruby Tuesday'.
The Honeymoon is Over. A bit of Tex Perkins in the afternoon - what more could a girl want?
Wild Palms. Soundtrack from an Oliver Stone miniseries involving bent politicians and a weird religious cult, set in some unspecified near-future time. The series itself is pretty freaky but the music is gorgeous. Lots of instrumental tracks by Ryuichi Sakamoto, and finishing with some old favourites like Franki Valli's 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You', and a great version of 'Classical Gas'.
